An affordable funeral service your family can trust

We were one of the first funeral service providers to address the need for low-cost and cheaper funerals in London and the surrounding areas.

With prices starting at £975, we’re specialists in arranging a simple and easy funeral that honours the memory of your loved one, showing them the utmost care throughout without climbing costs.

Our experienced funeral arrangers have been providing funeral services across London and the surrounding areas for over 10 years and we are here to assist you and your family every step of the way with your loved one’s funeral. Our funeral packages take care of all the arrangements on your behalf, including necessary documentation, permits, transportation, and collecting the ashes for you.

We provide low-cost quality funerals

Our Direct Cremation and Simple Funeral options are low-cost alternatives to the traditional funeral services offered by most funeral homes. We aim to help as many people save money whilst still providing a beautiful send-off.

The Direct Cremation option is a no-fuss yet dignified, non-attendance funeral service, which costs £975 including VAT. There may an £82 Doctor’s Fee in some cases, but this is on a case by case basis.

The Simple Funeral option gives provision for mourners with a chapel service. Local crematoria each set their prices differently and so each location below varies slightly in cost, with individual funeral prices noted next to each and starting from £1,500.

Our expert funeral arrangers can help you with additional services including a coffin upgrade, and personal touches such as floral tributes, memorial cards, the order of service and more.

Why Funerals on a Budget?

Funerals on a Budget was founded on one core principle which still guides us today: To provide an honest, dignified and affordable funeral, respecting the fact that not everyone is in the same financial situation.

Money shouldn’t be the reason why people can’t get the goodbye they deserve. We’ll continue to help you find the best budget funerals whilst keeping cost down to make sure money isn’t an issue.

Our team has been delivering Funerals on a Budget to families for over a decade and we believe everyone has the right to a dignified and respectful send-off regardless of money and financial circumstances.

What is a Direct Cremation?

A direct cremation is the most affordable and is the cheaper option for final disposition, where the deceased is cremated without a funeral service beforehand. After the funeral has taken place and the ashes have been returned to the family, some choose to arrange a private memorial or a public life celebration.

What are Doctor's Fees and costs?

A cremation cannot take place until the cause of death has been ascertained and recorded.

Doctors charge a fee of £82 each. At the moment, due to COVID-19, only one doctor is required, but prior to this, it was a legal requirement for two doctors. Legislation may revert back following any guidance on coronavirus at any time to two doctors needed, in which case the total fee will be £164.

If Her Majesty’s Coroner is involved the fees mentioned above are not required.

What if the deceased is with another funeral director already?

Yes. In fact, it is usual for care homes, for example, to instruct a local funeral director to collect the deceased. Or sometimes the existing funeral home does not offer the services required and the family would like to choose another funeral arranger.

If you would like Funerals on a Budget to take over the funeral arrangements for the Direct Cremation or Simple Funeral, you can speak to the existing funeral home to inform them of your decision. Once you have done this, you can let us know and we will take over from there.

It may be that the other funeral home charges you for their initial transfer of the deceased, but if you would like, we can include this on our final invoice after confirming with you.

Who are Funerals on a Budget?

The Funerals On A Budget team are based in Enfield, Middlesex (England) and have years of experience in the funeral industry.

Funerals on a Budget was founded on one core principle which still guides us today: To provide an honest, dignified and affordable service, respecting the fact that not everyone is in the same financial situation. We believe everyone has the right to a dignified and respectful send-off regardless of financial circumstances.

Our services are second to none, whilst we remain honestly priced and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

I need to ask some other questions. Can I contact you?

Absolutely. You can contact us in your preferred way using these options:

Call 0208 819 3469
Email info@funerals-on-a-budget.co.uk

Fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page.

In an emergency situation (i.e. someone has just died) please call us. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.

What ways can I pay?

Payment can be made by debit or credit card over the phone or by bank transfer.

Please note that payment in full is required before we may complete any funeral services for you.

What is the difference between Direct Cremation and Simple Funeral?

A Direct Cremation has no service or attendees before the cremation happens. The Simple Funeral has a small gathering for mourners to attend prior to the cremation.

For some, Direct Cremation best suits their needs. Indeed, many people now plan their own funerals and opt for a Direct Cremation. For others, the Simple Funeral is preferred because they would like to attend a service as a final goodbye.

Does 'Budget' mean low quality?

Budget means we have set the costs within a certain bracket, for example, our Direct Cremation is set at £975*, and that is the budget. This cheaper price does not impact the quality of funeral what we deliver:

  • Our experienced staff are well-presented and in uniform.
  • Our fleet of vehicles are kept to the highest of industry standards.
  • Our coffins are quality assured.

For some, the cost of a more traditional funeral is unfeasible. We believe everyone should have access to affordable funerals and this is the role we fulfil with Funerals on a Budget. * In some cases Doctors Fees may be required. Please see the previous question for answers about what this is.

I can’t pay without government benefits – can you still help me?

The UK’s Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) help with funeral payments for those people in England who receive certain state income-related benefits via the Social Fund Funeral Expenses Payment.

You may be entitled to up to £1,000 (after 8 April 2020), but how much you receive depends upon your individual circumstances.

The Funeral Expenses Payment can help pay for some of the costs of the following:

  • cremation fees, including the cost of the doctor’s certificate;
  • travel to arrange or go to the funeral;
  • the cost of moving the body within the UK, if it’s being moved more than 50 miles;
  • death certificates or other documents

You may also receive money for any other funeral expenses, such as the funeral director’s fees, flowers or the coffin.

To find out if you are eligible, you can call the government Bereavement Service helpline on 0800 731 0469. More information is available on Gov.uk.
